داستان کوتاه انگلیسی جالب همراه با معنی و ترجمه فارسی

 A young man wished to marry the farmer’s beautiful daughter. He went to the farmer to ask his permission. The farmer looked him over and said, “Son, go stand out in that field. I’m going to release three bulls, one at a time. If you can catch the tail of any one of the three bulls, you can marry my daughter.”

مرد جوانی در آرزوی ازدواج با دختر زیباروی کشاورزی بود. به نزد کشاورز رفت تا از او اجازه بگیره. کشاورز براندازش کرد و گفت: پسر جان، برو در آن قطعه زمین بایست. من سه گاو نر را یک به یک آزاد میکنم، اگر توانستی دم یکی  از این سه گاو را بگیری، می توانی با دخترم ازدواج کنی.

The young man stood in the pasture awaiting the first bull. The barn door opened and out ran the biggest, meanest-looking bull he had ever seen.

مرد جوان در مرتع، به انتظار اولین گاو ایستاد. در طویله باز شد و بزرگترین و خشمگین‌ترین گاوی که تو عمرش دیده بود به بیرون دوید.

He decided that one of the next bulls had to be a better choice than this one, so he ran over to the side and let the bull pass through the pasture out the back gate. The barn door opened again.

فکر کرد یکی از گاوهای بعدی، گزینه ی بهتری باشه، پس به کناری دوید و گذاشت گاو از مرتع بگذره و از در پشتی خارج بشه. دوباره در طویله باز شد.

Unbelievable. He had never seen anything so big and fierce in his life. It stood pawing the ground, grunting, slinging slobber as it eyed him. Whatever the next bull was like, it had to be a better choice than this one.

باورنکردنی بود! در تمام عمرش چیزی به این بزرگی و درندگی ندیده بود. با سُم به زمین میکوبید، خرخر میکرد و وقتی او رو دید، آب دهانش جاری شد. گاو بعدی هر چیزی هم که باشه، باید از این بهتر باشه.

He ran to the fence and let the bull pass through the pasture, out the back gate. The door opened a third time.

به سمتِ حصارها دوید و گذاشت گاو از مرتع عبور کنه و از در پشتی خارج بشه. برای بار سوم در طویله بار شد.

A smile came across his face. This was the weakest, scrawniest little bull he had ever seen. This one was his bull. As the bull came running by, he positioned himself just right and jumped at just the exact moment.

لبخند بر لبان مرد جوان ظاهر شد. این ضعیف ترین، کوچک ترین و لاغرترین گاوی بود که تو عمرش دیده بود. در جای مناسب قرار گرفت و درست به موقع بر روی گاو پرید.

He grabbed… but the bull had no tail!

دستش رو دراز کرد… اما گاو دم نداشت!..

Life is full of opportunities. Some will be easy to take advantage of, some will be difficult. But once we let them pass (often in hopes of something better), those opportunities may never again be available. So always grab the first opportunity

زندگی پر از فرصت های دست یافتنی است. بهره گیری از بعضی هاش ساده ست، بعضی هاش مشکل؛ اما زمانی که بهشون اجازه میدیم رد بشن و بگذرن (معمولاً در امید فرصت های بهتر در آینده)، این موقعیت ها شاید دیگه موجود نباشن. برای همین، همیشه اولین شانس رو دریاب!!!
