چرا اصطلاحات حیوانات اینقدر زیادند؟
در زبان انگلیسی ویژگیهای فرهنگی و تصویری حیوانات وارد زبان روزمره شدهاند؛ اما معنی اصطلاح معمولاً با ترجمهٔ واژهبهواژه یکی نیست. مثلاً hold your horses یعنی «صبر کن»، نه «اسبهایت را نگه دار».
اصل مهم: animal idiom را مثل یک واحد معنایی یاد بگیرید، نه مجموعهای از واژههای جدا.

اشتباههای رایج
- ترجمهٔ لفظی تصویر حیوانی به فارسی.
- فرض اینکه هر عبارتِ دارای نام حیوان، idiom است.
- استفاده از اصطلاحات خیلی خودمانی در متن رسمی.
- حفظ معنی بدون مثال؛ در این حالت انتخاب موقعیت درست سخت میشود.
